Norwalk, Connecticut, October 6, 2009 – Charles Hinnant, President, Charkit Chemical Corporation, announced that the company entered into an agreement on August 1, 2009 with Arkema for the exclusive Canadian distribution of four of Arkema’s hydrazine product forms: 100% hydrazine hydrate; 85% hydrazine hydrate; 55% hydrazine hydrate; and 55% catalyzed hydrazine hydrate.
While making the announcement, Mr. Hinnant said, “We have been Arkema’s exclusive distributor of hydrazine products in the United States for more than 20 years. The expansion of our distribution services on their behalf to Canada stands to benefit both Arkema and Charkit. Early on in Charkit’s history, Charkit offered hydrazine products so our expertise is well established with customers in the United States. We bring Charkit’s vast reservoir of knowledge along with our reputation for quality products and quality service in representing Arkema to Canadian customers.”
Mike Lyons, Marketing Manager, Arkema, concurred that the expanded relationship is a mutually advantageous move. “Arkema has been at the forefront of hydrazine production and consider it a core business. We play a leadership role in the worldwide market and our confidence in Charkit’s substantial technical expertise and considerable backing in this specific area make them an ideal partner in representing Arkema in the Canadian market.”
John Cox, Charkit’s Executive Vice President, explained that Charkit will be stocking products in both Montreal and Toronto and will be serving all of Canada. He will be leading the Arkema sales and marketing representation in Canada. Mr. Cox said, “I’m enthusiastic about leveraging my twenty-plus years of U.S. experience in working with Arkema and the Canadian market. I’m looking forward to the knowledge, experience and dedication that Charkit can bring to customers in Canada.”
Mr. Cox added that the hydrazine products will be available to Canadian customers in drums, totes and bulk quantities. He discussed the role of hydrazine as an oxygen scavenger in water treatment and boiler treatment and spoke of its role as a pharmaceutical intermediate. He cited hydrazine’s ability to precipitate precious metals and its use in electronic products.
